Feeling Overwhelmed? Tips for Maintaining Your Energetic, Mental, Emotional, and Physical Health.

As we are in the midst of eclipse season and with the collective energies surging right now, spiritual and energetic maintenance and self-care is crucial.
You might be feeling overwhelmed, overly sensitive, overly emotional, and experiencing teeth sensitivities, jaw pain, TMJ, lock jaw, waking up at weird hours, feeling exhausted but unable to sleep, drained, reclusive, sad, depressed, heavy, anxious, headaches, third eye pulsating, nausea, appetite changes, feeling really hot, feeling spacey and out of it, watery eyes, sensitivity to light and sound, etc.
Establishing an energetic and spiritual practice is essential to maintaining your emotional, physical, and mental health right now. If you are empathic and very sensitive to the energies around you developing and incorporating a few of these things into your daily life can help you maintain your auric field to create a healthy shield around your energy so that you can maintain your energy while not being so absorbent to those around you. Whether empathic or not, it is important to maintain isolation around your energies especially at this time to help you maintain your vitality, health, and wellness on all levels. Here are a few ways you can help yourself now!
Herbs
Gotu Kola, Ashwagandha, oregano, medicinal mushrooms, rosemary, thyme, sage, cinnamon, and holy basil are all herbs that help reduce oxidative stress, physical stress, and anxiety. Chamomile and Dandelion Root will help the liver right now (which is connect to the emotion of anger) and help calm the nervous system. You can drink them in a tea, add them to your meals, smoke them, or even burning them as a smudge and encircling yourself in the smoke can help cleanse your auric field (pro tip: when the smoke moves upwards your energetic field has been cleared) You can also use essential oils and create a midst or spray that allows your to spray yourself regularly.
Nutrition
You are what you eat! When we have too much heat within the collective energy (or Pitta if you are familiar with Ayurveda) and we are ingesting hot, spicy, acidic foods we are further creating that within our bodies. Scientific research shows that are first brain is our GUT that actual controls the biochemistry of the brain and the rest of the body. Incorporating less spicy, salty, pungent, and acidic foods and incorporating healing/cooling foods such as cucumbers, asparagus, avocados, carrots, coconut oil, blueberries, and high anti-oxidants and omega’s is crucial right now to support the bodies shift. Our bodies also really need the support of Selenium and Alpha-linolenic Acid to help with DNA chain transformations, stress, anxiety, and hormone and thyroid support. When our bodies are under stress this causes a surge in the hormone Cortisol, which creates a suppression in the pituitary gland and effects the bodies TSH and T3 levels associated with the thyroid. When TSH and T3 level are unbalance they can result in symptoms such as weight gain, fatigue, menstrual irregularities, depression, anxiety, etc. You can find Selenium in brazil nuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and buckwheat. Great sources of ALA are tomatoes, chia seeds, flax seeds, seaweed, and walnuts. Additionally, bananas, almonds, and cherries are all helpful in the regulation of the circadian rhythm and assist with sleep.
Earthing
It is absolutely imperative whether it be a small patch of grass, going to a plant nursery, going to a park, or sitting in your yard- take your shoes off and plant your feet into the EARTH! Whatever way you possibly can. This helps you reconnect with your Earth Star Chakra- your etheric grounding cord to transmute any energy from your auric field that is causing ill side effects and filling you back up with the love of Mother Earth.
Crystals
Working with crystals is highly suggested right now. One, this is a great way to work with earth elements for further grounding but additionally they can be worn, carried, and utilized through your entire day. Black Tourmaline, Jet, Black Obsidian, Smoky Quartz, Hematite, and Fluorite are all great energetic protection stones that also assist with stress and anxiety. Lapis Lazuli is great for the throat chakra as we enter into mercury retrograde. Amethyst assisting with calming and relaxing energies while assisting with sleep and dream recall. Breath
Take a deep breath, stop, pause, and breath in through your nose filling your stomach and out through your mouth. Taking deep breaths throughout your day can automatically calm your autonomic nervous system and reduce anxiety, stress, and uplift your energies. It can be as simple as that, or if you feel called to more of a breath work practice there are tons of apps and guides that can help you begin to understand breathing patterns and repetitions that automatically target reducing stress and inducing euphoric states such as 4-7-8 method, which is inhaling through the nose for 4 counts into the belly, holding for 7 counts, and exhaling for 8 counts through the mouth; the 5-5-5 method; or turning to Wim Hof breathing are all helpful and basic ways to tap into your breath to assist you now.
Unplug
Turn of the news and media. Shut your notifications off. Take a social media break, or reevaluate who you follow. You’re in control your social media platforms much like you are in control of your space. If you are feeling overwhelmed by posts, messages, etc. turn the notifications off, or simply spring clean your spaces unfollowing anything and anyone that is not making you feel good at this time. It’s necessary to set these boundaries and respect your energy. This goes for in-person relationships right now as well. Take some space to yourself to go within and relax. Detox your life from all energies that are not uplifting you at this time.
Move
The best medicine for anything is movement. Whether you’re low energy or don’t really feel like getting up and going - try going for a small walk around the block, or if you’re like me, turn on some of your favorite songs and shake and shimmy your energetic field and your vibe back into high spirits. Dancing is something that quickly helps us release any stored and stagnated energies within our auric field and chakras, but it can also simultaneously help us raise our vibratory state. Movement releases the neurotransmitter, endorphins, or happy hormones, which can help alleviate stress, anxiety, depression and raise your vibration to a calmer, happier, and more optimistic state. A great way to simultaneously clear out your energy field is Chakra Dance. Chakra Dance is simple and easy. You turn on some of your favorite music and you start at the base or Root Chakra by moving your feet primarily picking them up and down, shuffling, stomping, whatever feels right. Then you move up to the Sacral Chakra that controls the hip region, incorporating hip swings back and forth, twerking, hip circles- whatever feels right for you stimulates and clears this region. Then you’d integrate the Solar Plexus, which is seated right at the naval and controls the whole body. Bridging in movement of the belly and arms in whatever motions feel right for you helps to activate and clear this region; this could include belly roles, full torso circles, etc. Working up to the Heart Chakra, which is the chest area, begin incorporating your chest into the movement with shimmies, shakes, circles, again whatever feels right. Advancing then to incorporate the Throat Chakra, which controls the voice, can be done by humming, singing, or chanting along with the music. Finalizing the movement by bringing in the third eye, which rules the space between the eyes and our intution. This is when you would secure your space for movement with your eyes closed, take a few deep breaths, release the need to think about your movement, and allow the body to fully take over intuitive motion. This then bridges in the Crown Chakra, once in a intuitive state of movement, you will naturally feel yourself in a meditative blissful state as you move. Maintaining that as long as you wish and feel called, and then slowly returning to the body. Bringing the awareness back to the entire body and slowly coming back to the presence. This is a phenomenal tool and exercise that can clear out stagnated energies, rejuvenate the chakra centers, and heighten your energy levels.
